October 2009

Welcome [NAME],

October brings a crisp bite to the air, crunchy leaves under our feet and the desire to retreat indoors! Spending more time in the home is an inevitable part of the autumn months, some of us relish this cosy time to park up in front of the TV or on the sofa with a good book. Whilst others feel penned in and dread the long stretch of winter nights that lay ahead.

Whatever your take on the change of season, we at Voyager Spirit will be using October to do a bit of home cleansing. By this we set the intention to clear out any stagnant energy that has built up. Our homes absorb all the different types of energies we carry through our front door. Healthy personal space is a vital resource that supports our growth, but it’s all too easy to forget to look after it; ‘‘It is impossible to look after your internal energy when the energies around you are stagnant and toxic. It is only by transforming the energy of your home that it can become your true power base, a place where you can relax, recharge and revive.’’ Explains Russian energy expert, Alla Svirinskaya in her book, Your Secret Laws of Power – The Modern Art of Healthy Living.

A good physical declutter can be teamed up with a candle cleanse or, try using invigorating oils such as juniper in a burner or added to hot water when wiping over your surfaces. The power of the mind also comes into play, focusing on clearing the energy of our living space during meditation will boost the cleansing process along nicely.

We hope you are able to prepare your home and make it as comforting as possible so that you can continue to grow and flourish during colder months. Thank you to all this month’s contributors; from healing in Hawaii, to guidance on being a spiritual teacher, advice on how to work for love, money and meaning and offerings from our regulars, enjoy reading their insightful stories in your newly recharged personal space.

With love,

On Becoming a Spiritual Teacher
by Dee Apolline

“‘What is a teacher?’  I’ll tell you: it isn’t someone who teaches something, but someone who inspires the student to give of her best in order to discover what she already knows.”

Nabil Alaihi to Athena in The Witch of Portobello by Paulo Coelho, 2007

When I first went to University, one of my flatmates, Glenda, took a fancy to a guy on a stall at the Fresher’s Fair.  It was for something called “Nightline”.  She thought it was all about clubbing, and wanted to see him again, so she signed up and persuaded me to go with her that weekend to find out more...

Working for love, money and meaning - discovering the work you were born to do
by Nick Williams

In 1988, at my desk in London, I harboured a deep curiosity about what I could become.  I was bored stiff in my well-paid and prestigious job in an IT company selling expensive computers to corporate clients.  Some greater force seemed to be operating within me calling me to risk blossoming.  I felt I had potential that was unrealised.  But the greater part of me was terrified I would commit emotional suicide if I followed my heart and stepped off the conventional career path.  Growing up with the hard work ethic, I had buried any fancy ideas about doing something I loved.  I believed work shouldn’t be enjoyable, but a necessity to earning a living.

Three years of this inner conflict later, I mustered the courage to quit, gradually creating my dream of writing, speaking and teaching, inspiring others to follow their hearts.  But first I had to become an example myself! Today I am living the work I was born to do; life is bigger, more meaningful and inspiring.

What you give out you get back... multiplied
by Grace Kelly

Dear Friends,

One of the biggest and most consistent mantras and affirmations I use is: “What you give out, you get back”.  My mother taught me this as a child and it has stuck with me for the past 27years.  Other affirmations have come and gone; this one however, is invaluable and is determined to stay.

Orange Flowers

This month I have found myself using the mantra profusely.  I have noticed the daily abundance that is sent into my life when I put the mantra to use in a positive way.   Please note that if you are giving out negativity and lack that is what you will be getting back too!  I have experienced different variations of abundance during the month, for example there were days when cash or material items arrived unexpectedly, to days where chocolate... read more

Inspirations from Binah
by yvette Soler

How can you connect with your Higher Soul, spirit guide?

Inspirations from Binah:

There are many techniques to communicate with your Higher Self and spirit guides. Finding what works for you can take a little time, but once you have it, you will find the ability to confer with a trusted source invaluable. It is important to protect yourself as you are first making contact until you can ensure that whom you are speaking to is who they claim to be.

A good place to start is to create a sacred space, something that feels safe and comfortable. Use rituals, smudging, and so forth, to set the physical environment. Sit in this space and go into meditation, setting your intention to meet your Higher Self. As you enter the deeper levels of your own consciousness, wait for your Higher Self to appear. Remember that not all beings encountered are there to help, so use your words to ask questions and your senses to gauge the responses. Always ask if the being is here for your highest and best good. If you sense anything negative, don't try to figure out what it is, command the being to the light to be transmuted.

Integrative Quantum Medicine (Therapy of the Month)
by Louise Mita

“A theory is the more impressive the greater the simplicity of its premises, the more different kinds of things it relates, and the more extended its area of applicability.”  Albert Einstein.

My name is Louise Mita and I am an “Energist.”  I am the founder of Integrative Quantum Medicine™.  I am based in Honolulu, Hawaii where I treat people - infants and children, alike, as well as animals of all varieties, remotely, via the telephone. My patients reside around the world and all respond immediately to the efficacy of IQM.

Combining eastern protocols of healing handed down from 35 generations of Shaolin warrior monks with western physiology and...

Three Miles North of Molkom - Film Review
by John Charleston

Set three miles north of Molkom in the beautiful Swedish woodlands of Ängsbacka, debut directors Robert Cannan and Corinna Villari-Mcfarlane’s documentary about the annual No Mind Festival is both hilarious and heart-warming.

We view tree hugging, shamanism, walking over hot coals and other new age shenanigans through the wonderfully cynical eyes of Nick – a rugby loving Aussie who happened to tag along thinking he was going to find the Swedish equivalent of Glastonbury, “They’ve all come here to sing and chant – And I hate it”.

The group we observe includes Siddhartha, a Scandinavian alpha male in search of a spouse, Ljus, a Pan-like hippy who was raised by goats; “All my friends were animals”, and Regina, a Swedish actress escaping the...

The Real Challenge of Our Time - The Need for a New World
by Anne Baring

Neither do men put new wine into old bottles; else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles and both are preserved. Matt. 9:17

To reclaim the sacred nature of the cosmos – and of planet Earth in particular – is one of the outstanding spiritual challenges of our time. Diarmuid O’Murchu, Quantum Theology

The threat of global warming, the urgent need to free ourselves from dependency on oil and the current financial crisis could be the triple catalyst that offers us the opportunity of bringing about a profound shift in our values, relinquishing an old story and defining a new one.  Our lives and well-being depend upon the fertility and resources of the Earth, yet in relation to the Earth, it would seem that we have been autistic for centuries.
